In Overwatch, Mercy is not a fighter. Her only weapon that can cause damage fires very slowly and in a ballistic manner. You should leave the fighting to your team members, unless the enemy is facing you directly and there's no way to escape. Draw your weapons if you are confident you can assist your team in taking out a major threat. It's more like a game to use a blaster - will you do more damage or do you trust your teammates?
